| Mongolia, a country with great nature continuing unbroken from ancient times. Nature as far as the eye can see. Those who don't know it tend to picture the Gobi Desert as a desolate desert like the Sahara without a single blade of grass, but the actual Mongolian Gobi comes in various types. "South Gobi" means in Mongolian land where sparse short grass grows; the image is a desolate desert without a single plant, but in fact it is only 25% of the national territory. Camel herding is the most commonly seen here. Many dinosaur fossils have also been excavated here, stirring a romance of the ancient past. The Moltsog Dunes, about 50 km north of the South Gobi airfield, offer scenery that is exactly the image Japanese people picture of the Gobi Desert. |
