Tent tour starts.

After breakfast, move by horse about 80 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar. Carefully learn how to handle and ride horses from the English-speaking guide and riding staff and practice around the camp.

Start of the horse trek. Travel 15–20 km.

After breakfast. Terelj is a resort area surrounded by mountains and forests. Take a shower at a nearby tourist camp. Also visit a nomad's ger.

Horse Trekking to the Mysterious Lake "Khagiin Khar Lake" (8 days / 7 nights)

On Shine Zuuch Travel's tent tour, sleeping bags and tents are provided! Of course you may bring your own. Meals on the steppe are made by the cook, but let's all work together!In the evening you can enjoy free time, such as stargazing. Enjoy the outdoor feel that only a tent can give.
A summer-only horse trekking course recommended for repeat visitors. You travel through mountains and forests with your horses and tents. A seasonal course. No private car accompanies you. Luggage is carried on the horses. Three people accompany you: a nomad, a horse handler and a cook. 20–25 km of horse trekking per day. After arriving at Khagiin Khar Lake, you can try fishing.

Terelj National Park

On the way from Ulaanbaatar to Terelj National Park (70 km, about 1 hour by private car), you will see rocks and stones of interesting shapes. Be sure to visit Turtle Rock.A popular sightseeing spot with rocky mountains of rare, naturally formed shapes said to be miracles of nature, and the 15 m high Turtle Rock. Development as a national park began in the 1960s, and it has been protected as a national park since around 1994. Not only local Mongolians but tourists from many countries come to enjoy the scenery. Enjoy horse trekking, hiking and mountain walks in beautiful nature, meet nomads who live on the vast steppe tending livestock, taste handmade dairy products, and even climb Turtle Rock. It lies at an altitude of 1,600 m. In the park live 250 species of birds and protected animals such as elk and bears. Some ger camps have parking and electricity, and the area has been developed as a tourist destination.

  • At tourist camps, rooms (gers) are normally shared by 2–4 people.
  • If you use a tourist camp ger as a single, an additional charge of $25 per night applies.
  • An English-speaking guide stays with you throughout, and a professional licensed driver is arranged.
  • The vehicle is a private vehicle suited to the number of people: sedan, minibus, 4WD, etc.
  • Meals: as stated in the itinerary (standard three-course meals)
  • Sightseeing and meals may change due to local conditions such as weather or flight delays.
  • We also accept requests for additional arrangements such as extra nights, a private guide or a private car, and for hotel specification or upgrades.

Operating conditions and notes

Booking deadline

For tour bookings, please book at least 15 days before departure (excluding public holidays). If a booking is made after that, we will first reply to you by email to confirm that we can reach each other reliably before we start the arrangements. Bookings 7 days or more before departure will be accommodated as far as possible, so please consult us. (Cancellation charges start from 10 days before, so please note.) Please check the usage guide before booking.

Price notes

This course operates from 2 people, but we can accept a booking for 1 person. In that case an additional charge for a one-person departure and a single-room supplement apply. Please ask us for the price of a one-person departure before booking.

Payment method

After you reserve by email and phone, we will send a travel confirmation and an invoice to your email address. After checking the invoice, transfer 50% of the tour price to our bank account. The booking becomes official after we confirm receipt. The remaining 50% is paid by bank transfer before the trip starts.
