Hustai National Park and the Wild Horse Takhi
The world's last wild horse, the "takhi" or "Przewalski's horse," can be seen in this area. The takhi was on the verge of extinction in the Gobi Desert in the 1960s, so several were moved to special breeding forest parks in Europe. Since wild horses were returned to Mongolia from European zoos (the Netherlands and Switzerland) in 1995, the population has grown to 2,000. Besides the wild takhi, about 50 kinds of mammals live here, such as deer, gazelles and marmots. Enjoy Mongolia's animals and plants living in great nature to the full.Shambhala Land Hot Spot
The highlights of this tour are Mongolia's largest dunes and a visit to Khamariin Monastery, a Buddhist temple built by Danzanravjaa, a famous 18th century religious nobleman and poet.Known to locals as Khamariin Khiid, a famous power spot in Mongolia, it is visited not only by Mongolians but also by foreigners, and can be called a holy place where energy wells up in Mongolia's East Gobi region.Khamariin Monastery
Khamariin Monastery was founded in the 1820s by Danzanravjaa, a famous 19th century Mongolian educator and literary figure. The monastery was an important place of the "Red Sect" of Buddhism and a home for a harsh and noble saint in the Gobi. Danzanravjaa fought against the severe criticism in the society where he lived, class barriers that could not be broken, and gender distinctions. He worked hard to provide public education. At Khamariin Monastery he established a public school, theater, museum and library and promoted comprehensive public education. The Black Mountain
Called the Black Mountain, a mountain that grants wishes; in Mongolian it is "Khan Bayanzurkh Khairkhan," and only men can go to the summit. Women pray toward the summit from halfway up. On reaching the summit, you pour vodka toward the sky, speak of what you want, and pray with your hands together.Terelj National Park
On the way from Ulaanbaatar to Terelj National Park (70 km, about 1 hour by private car), you will see rocks and stones of interesting shapes. Be sure to visit Turtle Rock. It is the quiet protected area closest to Ulaanbaatar, surrounded on all sides by mountains and forest, with a clear stream flowing. Enjoy horse trekking, hiking and mountain walks in beautiful nature, meet nomads who live on the vast steppe tending livestock, taste handmade dairy products, and even climb Turtle Rock.
Chinggis Khaan Statue
The Chinggis Khaan Statue theme park stands on a hill above the Tuul River, 54 km east of Ulaanbaatar, set in beautiful natural scenery. The memorial place called Tsonjin Boldog shares history from the same era. In the recreation area, the Khaan museum, exhibition hall, restaurant, bar, souvenir shop and conference hall are located in the center of the horse statue. The far-sighted Khaan holds a golden whip in his right hand. Visitors go up by elevator, installed at the rear of the horse, from the statue hall to the back of the horse, pass through the chest and neck to reach the horse's head, and from the viewing windows can look out over the whole theme park and the surrounding natural scenery.
