The world's last wild horseThe "Takhi" or "Przewalski's horse" can be seen in this area. The Takhi was endangered in the Gobi Desert in the 1960s, so several were moved to specially bred forest parks in Europe. Since wild horses were returned to Mongolia in 1995 from European zoos (in the Netherlands and Switzerland), the number has grown to 2,000. About 50 kinds of mammals live here, including the wild horse Takhi, deer, gazelles and marmots. Enjoy to your heart's content the animals and plants of Mongolia living in great nature. On a nomad visit you can see the real life of nomads and experience assembling the traditional dwelling, the ger. Thanks to the project to return the once nearly extinct Takhi to the wild, the Takhi can again be seen here in Mongolia. Seeing a Takhi up close may bring you good luck. In this area there are many stone statues, graves, deer stones and human stones related to the Xiongnu and Turkic eras. You can also experience wide steppe, sand dunes, rocky mountains, rivers and the life of the nomads who live there. Hiking and horse trekking tours can be enjoyed in the Hustai area. Hustai, a national park that relocates, protects and studies Mongolia's wild horses native to the Gobi region, is a mountainous area

Tourist camp in Hustai National Park
Przewalski's horse = the world's last wild horse that once lived in Mongolia, the Takhi, disappeared from Mongolia after being taken abroad, but was brought back from Europe, Australia and elsewhere and successfully bred in Hustai National Park in Tuv Province. The terrain extends from steppe to forest. The best times for observing Takhi, deer and gazelles are dawn and dusk. Near this protected area there are also archaeological remains such as Turkic graves and human stone statues.

The wild horse Takhi
The Mongolian people call the wild horse Takhi the ancestor of the Mongolian horse, but in fact the Takhi has more chromosomes than ordinary Mongolian horses and is a different animal. It is also sturdier than the Mongolian horse and has a different tail.
Many other wild animals of the steppe also live here. Rich grassland spreads out. There are also sand dunes, and a variety of plants and animals can be observed. The Takhi is said to have the zebra, now living in Africa, as an ancestor and, over a long time, to have become the ancestor of the Mongolian horse. The Asian Takhi, once driven to extinction by humans, was reintroduced from the Middle East, and today about 200 live in the wild under protection in Hustai National Park. They have slightly large heads and a stocky look. At the feet there are stripes, a remnant of the zebra, and a line along the spine can also be seen on the back. In the morning, when they often come down to the foot of the hills, is a good time to observe them up close.
